I just want to make sure that I'm not paying extra money to replace '57 Classic replicas with another set of equal-quality pickups that'll cost me $140+ to get anyway. I just got myself an elitist 335 from another forum member here, and when I called and asked my local tech about switching out pickups, he gave an estimate of ~$60 for a setup + pickup swap via clipping the leads or ~$100 for a setup + taking all the electronics out and switching the pickups via desoldering/soldering the pots. Only the switch on my Elite LP is problematic, so besides that, I'm not sure if $80-90 for electronics upgrades is worth the money. Not only will I have to pay $80-90 on a electronics kit, I might have to pay extra to have a luthier drill bigger holes, etc.Īlso, the only difference that the elitist line has opposed to the RS or MOJO kits are supposedly lower quality pots, jacks and switches and ceramic tone caps. One thing keeping me away is the fact that the the Elitist line is Japanese which probably means the drilled holes are measured metrically. I've been thinking about an RS kit or MOJO kit myself.
